Born in Great Britain, Alan spent his early years in Canada, and settled with his family in california at the age of thirteen. He displayed a talent for drawing when he was very young and began seriously studying shortly after moving to California at the Amsel Art School. His driving motivation was to create for the viewer a complete visual experience; capturing the fleeting expression on a subject's face, arresting a tantalizing moment, or an enchanting pose. His desire to communicate through art led him to enter and subsequently graduate from Art Center college of Design in Los Angeles. Alan Murray's painted world is a world of love and beauty; of innocence and blossoming delight.
He is able to capture a mood as delicate as the features he paints on his canvas, and just as intricate. "It is not only the physical aspect of beauty that I try to express in my work, but that which is deeper and more elusive, a radiance to be felt rather than seen." He is able to create this effect by capturing the translucent light that reflects from the highlights of a child's hair or the mystery of a woman's smile. He paints the love he sees in a mother's eye and the fascination of a treasure discovered by a young boy. He is quick to catch the melancholy and wistfulness of a moment's dream and the everlasting love of a familial tie. Murray's warm rich hues draw the viewer into a world of memories. "I usually try to paint a feeling of calmness ....which we do not have a lot of in this world." It is his sense of beauty and ability to capture the moment that makes him such an extraordinary artist. Now with his career firmly established, Alan Murray has an ever growing following of admirers and collectors world wide. Many of his most recent originals have been published as limited editions and lithographs by Apple Jack Publishing. His original artwork work has exhibited in many other galleries and shows, including Merrill Chase Galleries in Chicago, Suttons Galleries in New Orleans, Pace Galleries in Houston, and the Peppertree Art Show in California. Award-winning artist Paul David Bond Pesqueira was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently resides in Southern California. Bond shares, “If I had to use one word to express my motivation, it would be 'mystery'. A life well lived rarely has a clear path forward. It meanders, and the challenge is to retain a sense of grace and peace, especially within the face of that which frightens us most. I began working with hospice patients for just that reason. To learn from those who are consciously facing their own deaths - the ultimate mystery - how I might live more fully. My work also symbolically explores the evolutionary journey towards self-awareness that humankind is undergoing. The painting process is my attempt to better understand a given concept through the creative life of each piece. One might call them a visual meditation on an ideal or a thought.”
